I am a Lithuanian designer with a Do It Yourself approach to making and researching. With a background in product and social design and an interest in Lithuanian crafts, the core of my practice is gathering the materials as locally as possible. The gathering process becomes a research of places and culture, entwining anthropology, ecology and rethinking of design discipline. Doing It Yourself for me is a way to trace the often invisible side of making, to try diverse, mostly pre-industrial technologies, and to search for alternative local design methods. In the times when we can make anything, my main curiosity is what can I make being here and now, what is meaningful and what is excess, and how can design process connect, rather than alienate from the surroundings. Esu dizainerė, kūryboje besivadovaujanti "pasidaryk pats" principu. Man tai būdas betarpiškai pažinti įvairias, dažniausiai - priešindustrines, gamybos technologijas, ir ieškoti kitokių, vietiškų gamybos schemų, siūlančių kitokį gyvenimo būdą. Ieškau medžiagų, esančių kuo arčiau manęs, - laikais, kai galima pagaminti bet ką, man įdomu, ką galiu pagaminti esanti čia ir dabar, ką sukurti yra prasminga, o kas galbūt yra perteklius, ir kaip per dizaino procesą suartėti su aplinka, o ne nuo jos susvetimėti.
